Queen Latifah

Dana Elaine Owens, better called Queen Latifah in America, is a rapper and actress. Queen Latifah's work in music film and television has earned her the Golden Globe award two Screen Actors Guild Awards two Image Awards a Grammy Award Six additional Grammy nominations, an Emmy Award nomination and an Academy Award nomination. Queen Latifah is an Newark New Jersey native. Her parents are Lancelot Sr. who was a policeman, as well as Rita, a educator of Irvington High School. Their divorce occurred in the year Latifah was 10 years old. Latifah was raised within the Baptist religion and went to Catholic school in Newark New Jersey. Latifah refers to gentle and kind. Her mother gave it to her when she was 8. Latifah is a tall 5'10 girl who was in the basketball team of her high school team. In her high school's play, Latifah performed "Home" from The Wiz. Latifah began beatboxing with the group known as Ladies Fresh. Latifah used to be a member of Flavor Unit - a group of rappers who united around the producer DJ Mark the 45 King. Mark James aka DJ Mark the 45 King made an unreleased version of Queen Latifah's song Princess of the Posse. The recorded was sent to Yo! MTV Raps Fab 5 Freddy. Dante Ross of Tommy Boy Music has signed Latifah upon hearing the track. Her first single, Wrath of My Madness, in 1988.
