Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder (born Winona Laura Hornowitz) was born in Winona Minnesota. The name was given to her by her parents in honor of the town where she was raised as a child. Michel Horowitz was her father and Cynthia Palmer, his mother, were both authors as well as editors. Ryder's mother and father have both been Jewish. Ryder believes herself to being Jewish. Uria is Ryder's younger sister. Jubal, Sunyata and Sunyata are Ryder's half-siblings. At the age of seven, Ryder was only seven her family moved into Mendocino County California. At the time, there were no electric lights. Ryder was a prolific reader due to the absence of television. Ryder began taking acting lessons at the American Conservatory Theatre in 1983, when she was twelve years old. In the year she turned 15, Ryder landed her first acting job on screen, in Lucas. Ryder endured bullying while in high school. Ryder hoped that her actions might change the situation. Sadly, this didn't occur. She continued to pursue her goals. Ryder made her breakthrough through Tim Burton's Beetlejuice in the year 1988. Ryder was a star in several films. She was nominated for two Academy Awards one for her performance as a character in The Age of Innocence (1993).
